Ride Trains
Providing an inexpensive way for kids and adults to enjoy the great hobby of live steam outdoor railroads. Check out our products and start enjoying 7.5/7.25" gauge model railroading. I used the names Kidspeeder and Youth Speeder, but confusion arose as to the capabilities of these for use by adults. The new name, Mini Motor Car reflects the official designation that the railroads used. True railroad men in the Western U.S. did not call these small rail vehicles speeders or put-puts. The Mini Motor Car is a culmination of years of developing small powered chassis. The goal was to make a small, inexpensive, and reliable electric speeder. It also turned out to have more tractive effort than I expected, making it suitable to pull one or two loaded cars on moderate (<3%) grades. We took two of these along with a Thomas conversion to the 2008 fall meet at Train Mountain and they performed flawlessly the entire weekend, racking up many miles. I expected to learn the life expectency of the batteries, motor, or motor controller. The only thing that lacked endurance was me, the only change was a note to include deeper padding in the seat! The pictured Motor Car also performed very well at the 2009 Triennial, racking up many miles, pulling riding cars and even taking a trip to EOT on the north end of the property.

What's New
Upcoming new locomotive! Our new locomotive chassis is undergoing extensive testing right now and we are working hard on the body design. I am very excited about this project as several years of work are finally paying off. People have been asking for something prototypical and more powerful. This new project has both in large quantity and for the incredible value you expect from Ride Trains. Parts for the Peg Perego ride on Thomas the Tank Engine conversion kit are also part of the production and that is almost ready for market.
I have also discontinued the electronic horn for the time being, the volume just wasn't enough to overcome gasoline engines. A better replacement is being worked on.
Peg Perego and Thomas the Tank Engine are trademarks of their respective companies.
